The thing about a trilogy is that usually the 2nd part is to build despair before the grand finale. This is why you will find that in a trilogy, be it the matrix or the lord of the rings, the 2nd part has the least ratings and is not much liked. BDSM is not just about abuse or deviant sex, it can also be about control and liberation. A freedom from the traditionally defined boundaries. Perhaps the character in the book put a boundary in the first book but she then found out she was already addicted? Just a thought.
@spike: fair enough. But the writing & story just didn’t grip me enough to hold my interest for 3 books.
